High-Strength Radius Rod Assemblies for Commercial Vehicles & Railway Systems
Radius rods (also referred to as radius arms, reaction arms, or track rods) are critical suspension linkages designed to control fore-aft (longitudinal) wheel and axle movement while maintaining proper suspension geometry during vertical travel. Varsha Forgings produces closed-die forged radius rod assemblies, including fixed-length, threaded adjustable, and crimped configurations, engineered to handle dynamic push/pull forces in heavy commercial vehicles, buses, and rail bogies.
In multi-axle truck and trailer configurations, radius rods prevent axle shift relative to the chassis frame during hard braking and rapid acceleration. By maintaining strict longitudinal axle positioning, radius rods reduce tire scrub, prevent dog-tracking, and extend driveline component life.
Plant Specifications & Infrastructure
Precision CNC Machining Infrastructure
The Pune facility is equipped with multi-axis machining centers capable of complex angled mounting faces, lubrication channels, and pin bores machined in a single clamping setup.
Multi-Axis Machining Advantage
The plant's press and hammer infrastructure is configured for high-tonnage, deep-impression closed-die forging of structural automotive and railway components.
Assembly & Value-Added Operations
The Pune plant performs complete sub-assembly operations that transform machined forgings into installation-ready modules for OEM assembly lines.
Quality Systems & Process Control
Statistical Process Control (SPC)
SPC software monitors Key Control Characteristics (KCCs) during production runs, ensuring Cpk values meet or exceed the automotive OEM standard of 1.67. Automated tool-setter probes, pre-set tool life counters, and insert wear monitoring automatically index cutting tools before dimensional drift exceeds engineering tolerances.
Tool Wear Management
Machines utilize automated tool-setter probes, pre-set tool life counters, and insert wear monitoring to automatically index tools before dimensional drift exceeds engineering tolerances. This prevents out-of-tolerance parts from reaching inspection.
JIT Logistics & Regional Supply Chain Synergy
The Pune facility's location in the Chakan-Talegaon-Bhosari automotive belt enables Just-In-Time (JIT) and Kanban delivery compliance for OEM assembly lines.
By performing all final precision machining and sub-assembly operations at the Pune facility, Varsha Forgings ensures rapid, localized logistics and JIT delivery compliance for OEMs in the Chakan and Bhosari industrial belts.
